Without any pause, it’s a YES! Turkey is an excellent place to live. People traveling, Living, or studying in
Turkey feels at home because of the Turkish people’s hospitality and friendly and helpful nature.

1. LOW CRIME IN TURKEY/STREET CRIME

Turkey’s crime rate is way lower than the US, making solo traveling safer for women and everyone
residing there. But unlike any other country, you should be careful of your bags in rushy areas from
pickpocketing in big cities of Turkey like Ankara, Istanbul, etc.

2. LOW-COST RENTAL APARTMENTS

If we talk about the Rent of an apartment house in a big city like Istanbul, initially, it starts from $200
USD and goes on according to the house size and area. You can find both furnished apartments and
unfurnished apartments from this starting range. If you choose to live in high-end areas, then the Rent of
an apartment will increase accordingly. Students in Istanbul also live in shared apartments which cost
them less.

3. ECONOMICAL BILLS EXPENSES

Electricity, Gas, and water bills depend upon your usage. If you are a family of two, the use of Electricity
and Gas will be less. Electricity and Gas can cost you $40 USD a month, but again, it depends on how
much usage you are doing.

4. PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN TURKEY

Buying cars in Turkey is like Buying a House because vehicles are costly in Turkey. Still, you don’t need
to worry about it because the Government has provided many Public Transport in Turkey, like Trams, Metro trains, Metro Buses, and ferries, which make the journey the cheapest and most reliable.

5. MEDICAL AND MEDICINE EXPENSES

Government hospitals are pretty much cheaper than private ones. I got a severe throat infection that
led me to the emergency, which cost me 400Liras including Consultation, Chest X-ray, and Routine
reports like CBC, Glucose, etc.

Firstly, you must take Health Insurance whether you are a Tourist, Student, or Resident. You can take
insurance from the Government or private companies. Insurance comes into different categories. You can
take it according to your preference.

If you are a tourist, ensure you carry the patient’s passport and insurance in case of need.
Medicine in Turkey is slightly more expensive than hospital bills for severe throat infections. My
prescribed medications, which include Antibiotics, Paracetamol, cold and flu pills, Nasal Spray, Allergy pills,
and gargle medicine, cost me 900Liras.

6. EXCELLENT BANKING SYSTEM

Opening a Bank Account in Turkey is an easy process.
-IF YOU HAVE A WORK PERMIT
They will ask you for pay slips, proof of company work, and your Work permit Card.
-IF YOU ARE A STUDENT
They will ask for Your Resident permit and University Letter.

Nowadays, it is tough to make Bank accounts for people who are on Touristic permits. But that doesn’t
mean you should stop trying because miracle does happen.
